
After Gyeongbokgung, we took a stroll along Insa-dong. Pictured here is a Buddhist monk using a Korean calligraphy set to paint pictures of Confucious (I think). It was really neat to watch, and if my walls weren't already cluttered as it, I would have bought this painting.

Why would a Buddhist monk dude paint Confucius, rather than one of the Buddhas, Bodhisatvas or other myriads that populate the Buddhist pantheon?
